  • Who will be helping me?

    Our therapists are all registered clinical psychologists, trained and qualified mental health professionals with the expertise to provide therapy and counselling services.

  • How are therapists verified?

    We are happy to confirm that all therapists on our team have had their clinical qualifications and licensing verified to ensure your therapist will provide you with the best care.

  • How can Open Heart help me?

    When you join Open Heart, you complete a comprehensive questionnaire to evaluate your mental well-being and understand the concerns you would like to work through. Based on this, our unique algorithm will match you with an experienced therapist specialising in that area. That way, you always connect with a specialist trained to help you.

  • How much does it cost?

    Our therapists decide on their own rates based on their years of practice and clinical qualifications, with rates ranging from $800 to 3000 HKD per 50-minute session.

  • Will this be the same as in-person therapy?

    Imagine being able to accomplish all the same work as in-person therapy without the commute and having to pay to fund rental costs for your therapist’s office. With Open Heart, you gain convenience, affordability, and access to experienced therapists who have specialist training to support you with your specific clinical needs. In fact, studies show that there may be evidence that online therapy can be more effective than in-person therapy (Luo et al., 2020). So, maybe not exactly the same… but possibly better?   • Registering - What is a membership?

    Open Heart follows a monthly subscription model where therapists pay to use our platform to connect with clients and use our digital resources – similar to how you might rent an office for in-person therapy! Beyond new client referrals, depending on your membership plan, we offer easy practice management with the provision of sales data, featured articles, a remote community for therapists and peer supervision, and health insurance!   • Registering - What are payment processing fees (PPF)?

    Payment Processing Fees (PPF) are charged by the digital payment system Stripe for processing credit card payments and online payments from clients. Please note that PPF will be charged for every therapy session, and there will be a percentage cost of your therapy rates. The PPF for Explorers is 12%, while Partners and Entrepreneurs pay 8%.

  • Registering - How much do I get paid?

    You set your own pricing and client caseload, so it is completely up to you! Generally, our therapists' rates are between $800 to $3000 HKD per 50-minute session (excluding processing fees) based on their expertise.

  • Registering - What is the Remote Health Community for Entrepreneurs?

    The Remote Health Community is a private Facebook group where you can connect with therapists internationally and ask for advice. But this community isn't just about professional growth; it's about personal growth, too. By supporting one another, we create an environment where we can learn, grow, and thrive together. We can exchange creative ideas, global perspectives, and practical techniques and challenge each other to become better versions of ourselves. We also provide a peer supervision programme for career growth and support.

  • Registering - What is the ”Therapist Training” for Entrepreneurs?

    To support therapists with personal and career growth, we offer monthly themed Therapist Training aimed at helping you expand your private practice. These trainings are led by senior experienced clinical psychologists on our Clinical Advisory Board and sometimes with the occasional guest speaker!

  • Registering - What does the insurance cover for Entrepreneurs?

    If you sign up to be an Entrepreneur Member, you will receive an email at the start of your membership with further instructions on how to sign up. Your insurance coverage will vary based on your host country (the location you are based in). More details about your coverage will be given to you in the email. To use your insurance, you can pay for your medical expenses at the time of the appointment and submit the receipts for reimbursement.

  • Registering - Am I eligible? How do I sign up?

    All registered psychologists are eligible to sign up. You can fill out a short application form with your qualifications and credentials by clicking “Therapist Sign Up” here: https://openheart.asia/login

  • Registering - I have signed up. Why can’t I log in?

    Once you have applied to be a therapist with us, we will review your application to ensure you meet our eligibility criteria and verify your qualifications. This process takes approximately up to 72 hours and results in high-quality care provided by experienced and trained therapists with Open Heart.

  • Registering - Can I be listed on Open Heart if I'm not a therapist but another type of practitioner?

    Unfortunately, we’re not currently accepting other types of practitioners for our Online Therapy platform. However, if you are experienced in trauma care and treatments, we invite you to register your centre or yourself as a Trauma Specialist with Open Heart.   • Registering - Can I provide my services to someone who is not located in the country where I'm registered?

    Yes, as a Therapist on Open Heart, you can provide your services to clients from across the APAC region.

  • Using the platform - Can I connect my Open Heart calendar with an external calendar? How?

    By signing up to Open Heart with an existing personal Gmail account, you have the option to connect your Google Calendar with your Open Heart calendar. This can be done through your Open Heart calendar settings in your Therapist Dashboard. You can view your events from the Google calendar directly within your Open Heart calendar by importing your external calendar. Additionally, these existing events will block off the available time slots, indicating when you are unavailable for sessions. You can also export your Open Heart calendar to your Google calendar, ensuring that all your booked sessions are visible in your external calendar as well.

  • Using the platform - How can I block off time when I'm unavailable on my calendar?

    If you need to block off time when you are unavailable, such as for a doctor's appointment or personal commitment, you can manually add an appointment or block off time in your Calendar section. Click on the desired date and time, then select "Add Out of Office." From there, you can specify the duration of the block and add any necessary notes for yourself. Please note that clients cannot see these appointments, but they will be unable to send you a booking request during the blocked time.

  • Using the platform - How do I get new client referrals?

    You can go into your settings within your Therapist Dashboard to select that you are open to taking on new clients. When a client fills out our matching questionnaire and selects one of your areas of expertise, it will send you an email notification so that you can decide whether you would like to accept that new client. If you accept the client, their profile will be added to your Therapist Dashboard.

  • Using the platform - How do I refer existing clients to my practice at Open Heart?

    You can go into your settings within your Therapist Dashboard to manually create a Client Profile for your existing client, which will include a section to enter your client’s email. Once you have confirmed the details, this will send an email notification to your client and prompt them to create an account automatically linked to yours so you can get started with therapy immediately without the hassle.

  • Using the platform - How do I book a session with a client?

    To schedule a session with a client, you can follow these steps: 1. Go to your messages and select the conversation with the client you wish to book a session with. 2. Click on the calendar icon located on the left side next to the message text box. 3. Choose the date and time for the session and indicate the duration. On the right side, you can check if you have any other appointments on that date to avoid double bookings. 4. Next, select whether the session will be held online, and decide if you want the client to prepay for the session. If you choose the "prepay" option, enter the session fee and click "Schedule." You can now send the session booking to your client and a personalised note if desired. The session invite will also generate an invoice that the client can pay online before the session.

  • Using the platform - Is video conferencing and messaging on Open Heart secure?

    Yes, our platform follows the confidentiality regulations and the Cap. 486 Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong. Our video conferencing prioritises security with Zoom. We utilise end-to-end encryption (E2E) to ensure that the media exchanged during video sessions remains encrypted and secure. We do not intercept, record, transcode, or manipulate the media exchanged between participants. Rest assured that your video sessions maintain high privacy and confidentiality.

  • Using the platform - Can I store my notes with Open Heart?

    We are currently developing secure AI assisted note-taking software that you can store in your individual client profiles for ease of client treatment management. In the meantime, we recommend using Notes on Zoom or other thirty party platforms such as Evernote.

  • Using the platform - What should I do if I'm experiencing technical problems?

    If you encounter technical issues such as login difficulties, message-sending problems, or video call issues, we suggest following these initial troubleshooting steps: 1. Refresh the page. 2. Log out and then log back in. 3. Restart your computer. 4. Try using a different internet browser. If needed, you can download an alternative browser. 5. Use incognito (private) mode in your current browser. 6. Clear cached data in your internet browser settings. 7. Check your computer for malware, viruses, and spyware. 8. If the issue persists, you can try resetting your internet browser to default settings or reinstalling it. If these steps do not resolve the problem, or if you have specific technical questions, please contact us with the subject of “Technical Support” at https://openheart.asia/contactus. Our team will promptly assist you in resolving the issue as soon as possible from there.

  • Using the platform - When do I get paid?

    You will get paid monthly via Stripe in the currency you have selected.

  • Using the platform - When do I pay the Payment Processing Fees (PPF)?

    Payment Processing fees (PPF) apply to each therapy session and are a percentage cost from your chosen therapy rates. Explorers have a 12% PPF, whereas Partners and Entrepreneurs receive a 4% discount. Explorers also have a 13% New Client Administration Fees. PPF will be deducted from your pay, meaning you will pay your PPF every four weeks.

  • Using the platform - How do I activate or use my insurance?

    If you sign up to be an Entrepreneur Member, you will receive a discount code for insurance with Safety Wings. You will receive an email at the start of your membership with further instructions on how to sign up. Your insurance coverage will vary based on your host country (the location you are based in). More details about your coverage will be detailed to you in the email. To use your insurance, you can pay for your medical expenses at the time of the appointment and submit the receipts for reimbursement.
